Weddings in the Church of England
- Why get married in church?
- A marriage service, wherever it is held, is a public declaration of love and commitment to your partner.
If you choose to get married in church, there is an added dimension - the assurance that God cares about your relationship and that his resources and strength are available to help you. Including God in your marriage doesnt mean that you will avoid all the usual ups and downs, but you will know that you can look to God for help and guidance and that his love will sustain you. You will also have the support and encouragement of the Christian Church family. - Getting married at St Martin's
- Anyone lawfully entitled to be married, and who has not previously been married is entitled to be married at the parish church where they or their partner reside, or where one of them is on the Electoral Roll as a member.
If you live outside the parish, and wish to get married at St Martin's you will be expected to attend church services for six months before going on the electoral roll. - Marriage after Divorce
- In certain circumstances, where one of the couple wishing to be married has previously been divorced, it may be possible to be married at St Martin's. This should be mentioned in your initial enquiry.
- How much does it cost to get married in church?
- The fees for getting married at St Martin's are currently £384.50.
If you would like St Martin's to arrange for extra flowers to be in church for your wedding there is an additional fee of £50 plus the cost of the flowers. - Who to contact
