Taize Prayer (on occassional basis a different times of the year) Taize, in the south of Burgundy, France, is the home of an international, ecumenical community, founded in 1940 by Brother Roger. Today, the community is made up of over a hundred brothers from more than twenty-five nations. At the heart of daily life in Taize are three times of prayer together. Since the late 1950s, many thousands of young adults from many countries have found their way to Taize to take part in weekly meetings of prayer and reflection. Because of the many different people that go to Taize, a very distinctive and beautiful style of worship has developed, with sung chants, a Bible reading and a time of silence. Taize services at St Martin's happen at special times during the year.
